Our service has been improved!
You have reached this page because we have deployed a new service called "PPPoE" that you have not yet subcribed to. Continue reading for more details.
What is PPPoE?
Briefly, PPPoE is an alternate way for users to connect to the Internet with Tri-County Wireless. It works in conjunction with other services on our end to provide a level of authentication when connecting to our network.
What does that mean to me?
What this means is that our users now have a
username and
password that must be used in order to access the web. This is
NOT something that must be done every single time you sit down at your computer. Rather, it is a one-time procedure that we require to help make our service more secure and more reliable.
So, what do I have to do?
Connecting to our PPPoE Internet service can be done in one of two ways:
- If you have
ONE computer which plugs directly into the wireless equipment we installed on your property, you must create a new connection in the Network Connections window on your computer.
- If you have
TWO OR MORE computers and use a router to connect to the Internet, a quick change needs to be made in the router's settings. This can be done right from your computer by following the video guide towards the bottom of this page.
I have one computer, no router.
Great! Follow the steps below to create a new connection to our service:
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network and Internet Connections.
2. Click Network Connections, and then click "Create a new connection" in the upper-left portion of the window.
3. Click Next at the first window, then select "Connect to the Internet" and click Next.
4. Select "Set up my connection manually", and click Next.
5. Select "Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password", and click Next.
6. Type Tri-County Wireless as the ISP name, and click Next.
7. Carefully type your
username and
password in the corresponding fields and click Next.
8. Click Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop.
9. Click Finish to complete the wizard.
I have a router, what should I do?
Configuring a PPPoE connection in your router can be a bit tricky due to the fact that there are literally hundreds of different model routers. The easiest way to get help setting up your particular router is to contact the manufacturer's support center, or locate the User Manual that came with the router.
Although it would be impossible for us to include a tutorial for every router that exists, we have put together a short video guide using one of the most common Linksys routers. Click below to watch.

For assistance with your router, please contact the manufacturer's support center. We are happy to help, but they know your specific router details better than we do.
